Method:
Slice the loaf diagonally into 2 cm or
3/4 in slices, but not right through the base. Mix the crushed garlic
or garlic powder with the butter or margarine, salt, pepper and lemon
juice. Spread each slice of bread with the mixture. Reshape the loaf
and wrap in foil, sealing the ends firmly. Heat through in a preheated
oven at 200°C/400°F/gas mark 6 for 15 minutes. Serve in a long bread
basket, still wrapped in the foil to keep it warm.
